Frequently Asked Questions
How much energy will my window film really save?
Installing a Solar Control Film will reduce the amount of solar heat which enters your building, which can result in lowering the cooling costs in the summer. However, the exact energy saving amount can be difficult to calculate because of the many factors which contribute to energy use, such as the fluctuating cost of fuel, the amount of direct sun exposure to your building, the type of film installed, the type of glass that you have, amongst other factors. However, typical payback in energy savings is usually about 2 – 5 years, sometimes less for larger currently inefficient buildings.
How do I maintain my windows after my window tint has been installed?
You first need to leave your windows for 30 days and then clean your windows as you normally would, using a window cleaning solution and a soft, lint-free cloth. Try to avoid using abrasive materials that may scratch or damage the film.
How long will my new window tint last?
As they are made with only the highest grade raw materials – our window films are made to last several years. The exact life of the film depends on the film type, the climate and the type of glass in which it is installed, but most residential and commercial applications last at least 10-15 years. There is a warranty to protect against premature aging, but this varies according to which film you have chosen and where it is installed. Please contact us for details.
How long does it take for my window film to “dry”?
Depending on the type of film and weather conditions, it can take up to 30 – 45 days for the film to fully dry and cure. During this time, you may notice small water bubbles and/or a hazy appearance, but this is normal and will disappear over time. Once completely dry, your window film will be almost unnoticeable and will look great for years.
Will my film turn purple and bubble?
No – Solar control window tint is a metalized film it is nearly impossible for these films to change to purple in color. Over time, you will see some fading or lightening, as you would see with any object which is exposed to the sun’s rays.
All of our commercial window films come with a manufacture warranty and most of the films have a 10-year commercial warranty. This includes a 5 Year Glass Breakage warranty and 3 Year Seal Failure warranty. There are certain restrictions which apply, and we are happy to discuss with you should you wish.
